Arizona Proficiency Seals
Yuma Union High School District invites our students to qualify for the Arizona Arts Proficiency Seal.
The Arizona Arts Proficiency Seal was adopted to celebrate students who demonstrate high levels of proficiency in the Arizona Arts Education Standards through personal expression and creative experiences in arts education programs.
This program also identifies pathways of artistic literacy that cultivate skills for 21st Century success. Its goal is to prepare students for college and career readiness, including active participation in the creative industries sector. The program is designed to promote access to well-rounded, high quality arts education across the state. Yuma Union High School District Fine Arts provides programs which fulfill these goals, and we are excited that our students have the opportunity to be recognized for their excellence.

Each level considers how well a speaker uses vocabulary, text type, language functions, context, accuracy control, and communication strategies. Additionally, each level takes into consideration how well the speaker is comprehended by others.

Civics literacy is the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for informed, responsible participation in public life. Productive civic engagement requires knowledge of the history, principles, and foundations of our Constitutional Republic, and that each person has both human and civil rights. People demonstrate civic engagement when they address public problems individually and collaboratively and when they maintain, strengthen, and improve their communities and society. Civics also requires an understanding of local, state, national, and international institutions. Yuma Union High School District invites our students to qualify for the Arizona Seal of Personal Finance.
Personal finance (or financial literacy) is defined as "the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing (Investopedia 2025)." While the 2018 History and Social Science Standards require "Financial Literacy/Personal Finance, including but not limited to budgeting, saving, spending, investment, credit, banking, and insurance" in a student's economics course, we consider proficiency going beyond just this learning. Students demonstrate proficiency by not just knowing the basics but by taking the skills learned and applying them to their current and future lives.
